June @ Studio Soma

Hello beautiful people,
As we move into June, you'll notice a few changes around the studio. The longer days are here. The evenings stretch out a little further, the mornings arrive a little earlier, and naturally our rhythm begins to shift with them. Rather than filling every corner of the timetable, we're allowing things to become a little more spacious this season. A little more seasonal and in tune with what summer seems to ask of us.
For me, summer has always felt like an invitation. An invitation outdoors, into nature, into sunshine, slower evenings and spontaneous adventures. Sitting in the grass with friends, taking long walks after dinner, and remembering that wellness isn't something that only happens on a yoga mat. It's something we carry with us into everyday life.

The return of morning practice
If you've been waiting for an excuse to become a morning person, this might be it. June sees the addition of more early morningclasses. There's something special about moving before the world gets too noisy. Before emails, to-do lists and responsibilities begin demanding attention. An hour dedicated to breath, movement and arriving in your body before the day unfolds. Whether you're heading to work after or simply enjoying a slower pace, morning practice has a way of changing the tone of the entire day.
New faces and familiar friends
I'm so delighted to welcome some beautiful new people into Studio Soma teacher fam.
One of the things I love most about this studio is that each teacher brings their own vibe, experience and perspective. Different paths, same intention: helping people feel a little more at home in themselves.
Alice teaches the Ashtanga on a Friday @ 7:30am. Bringing a steady, traditional practice for those who enjoy a little more structure, discipline and depth in their movement journey.
Nikki is running the Vinyasa classes on a Tuesday eve and Thursday morning, creating space to move, breathe and flow through dynamic sequences that leave you feeling both energised and grounded.
Carey will continue sharing her wonderful wisdom of Qi Gong on a Saturday morning alongside Shiatsu Massage slots for anyone looking to soften tension, restore balance and receive a little extra care. And me (Alla LOL), Morning Soma Flows and evening Yin & Meditation sessions.
Side note: One thing that's become increasingly clear since opening Studio Soma is that community needs more than classes. Me included. People want somewhere to gather, connect and simply be. And honestly, same. I can say in full confidence that our community lights up my heart. I'm so inspired, motivated, and humbled to spend time with you all in different ways. I find it fascinating. All of us from different walks of life gathering in an industrial unit somewhere in south of England lol. Which leads me into...
Community & Event stuff for June

Gong Bath w. Jo on June 10th @ 6pm Another immersive evening with the best sound healer in Hampshire, Jo. We're doing Gongs this month. If you've never attended one before, imagine being wrapped in layers of sound that gently guide the nervous system towards rest. Just space to soften. These sessions continue to be a favourite and it's easy to understand why. They begin with a bit of somatic movement - shaking, tapping, swaying, stretching, allowing our blood to flow. Then, Jo introduces her breathwork. This can be challenging and infinitely interesting to explore. After that we settle into into the sound. Caccooned in blankets amongst eachother embracing the resonance of the room. You can book here, spots are limited. Also, have a look at Jo's website for all of her other offerings www.healthysouljo.co.uk
Community Drum Circle on June 9 & 26 I recently spoke to one of the lovely humans who come to these gatherings and we spoke about how the drum circle isn't 'work' because there's no facilitation. It's an open space to explore rhythm, sound, music, and improvisation. It absolutely takes you away. No experience needed. No performance required. Bring a drum if you have one, borrow one if you don't, or simply come along to listen, move, clap, dance or sit quietly and receive the experience. There is something deeply human about making rhythm together. Something ancient. Something connective. These evenings are so incredibly special. I'm eternally grateful to be able to host them. Also we have a group chat, that's the most updated version of times and dates as sometimes it's spontaneous. Let me know if you want me to add you x You can send me a message on 07362233800 and I'll add you in. p.s. these gatherings are free to book and donation based on arrival (when held at the studio). This helps us continue to offer free tea, purchase new instruments and continue hosting. However! If you're in a tough place at the moment and can't donate, please still come. It's all offered in good faith. Your presence means a lot. Book via Glofox.
Soma Workspace every Wed & Fri
One of our newest offerings is also one of our simplest. Every Wednesday and Friday we're opening the studio as a calm co-working space. Bring your laptop. Bring your notebook. Bring that creative project you've been meaning to start. Or simply bring yourself. There's tea, WiFi, free parking, friendly faces and plenty of room to spread out.
No pressure to be productive. Just a cosy place to spend a few hours outside the house. It's been lovely watching people settle into the space in completely different ways. The bolster forts are impressive lol. Some working, some studying, some reading, some simply enjoying a change of scenery. This is also donation based and free to book. My thought-process is that the community keeps this running, not me. I don't need to charge £30 per hour for something like this, and I never intend to. Your donations help me pay a bill, get some tea and fruit for us to share and occasionally I'll get myself a cheeky coffee to support our neighbours at Little Bee Bakery and GG's diner .
Shiatsu Massage Slots w. Carey You know in Savasana when your teacher comes around, gives your shoulders a gentle press or pulls your legs ever so slightly, and it feels like absolute heaven? Many of those adjustments have their roots in Shiatsu. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shiatsu works with the body's meridian pathways in a similar way to acupuncture, just without the needles. Using gentle pressure, stretches and assisted movement, it's designed to encourage relaxation, release tension and support overall wellbeing. Carey's one-to-one sessions are 75 minutes (£75), performed fully clothed on a comfortable floor mat. Just wear loose, comfortable clothing and let yourself receive. Perfect if you're carrying stress, tension, fatigue, or simply need a little extra care. At the moment the slots are on Mondays/Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, however if there's a specific day/time that owrks best for you, just get in touch and I'll be happy to check availability. :)
A Season of Spaciousness
You may notice our candlelit evening events taking a little pause over the summer months. Don't worry, they'll be back when autumn arrives and we're all craving cosy evenings again. For now, we're embracing the season we're in. Longer days. Warmer evenings. A timetable that breathes a little more. And plenty of opportunities to connect in ways that feel nourishing and sustainable. As always, whether you're joining us for yoga, a drum circle, a massage, a gong bath or simply popping in to say hello, we're grateful you're here. Thank you for continuing to help make this little community what it is. See you when I see you :) Much love, Alla x
